A plain-language summary of the deal. This is not legal advice.

What proteintexter is

You text a photo of your food to our number and we reply with an estimated protein count (and calories, fat, and sugar).

Health and nutrition disclaimer

Results are AI estimates for general informational and tracking purposes only. They may be inaccurate and are not medical, health, or nutritional advice. Do not use proteintexter as a substitute for a doctor, registered dietitian, or other qualified professional, or rely on its results for dietary, allergy, diagnosis, treatment, medication, or dosing decisions. Any targets or limits you set only compare against those estimates and are not health recommendations.

Your agreement

By requesting or verifying a sign-in code, creating an account, signing in, or using proteintexter, you agree to these Terms, including the health and nutrition disclaimer above, and to our Privacy Policy.

Your account

Your account is your verified phone number. You're responsible for the messages you send and for keeping your phone secure. You may add optional profile details and choose the appearance of your shareable profile page in Settings, including a first name that we use to personalize greeting texts. We measure AI processing usage by account to operate the service and monitor costs.

Supported phones and messaging channels

proteintexter reaches you over iMessage and SMS only. Any US (+1) mobile number works — an iPhone over iMessage, an Android phone over SMS. Outside the US we can only reach numbers that are available on iMessage, so a non-US number that isn't on iMessage (which includes Android phones abroad) can't sign up or be served yet. WhatsApp and Telegram are not supported. We may add, change, or drop supported channels, carriers, and countries at any time, and we can't promise delivery on any particular network, device, or carrier.

Message and data rates

We never bill you for an individual message. Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier or plan may apply to every message you send and receive, including international and roaming charges. Those charges are between you and your carrier and are your responsibility — proteintexter is not responsible for them and does not reimburse them. Message frequency varies with how you use the service. Text HELP for help and STOP anytime to opt out.

Acceptable use

Send photos of food. Don't send illegal, sexual, or abusive content — images are screened and rejected before storage, and misuse can end your access.

Referrals

If you set a username, you can share a referral link that uses it as the code. Use referral links honestly and do not spam or misrepresent proteintexter. Your username is not reserved: if you change it, your referral link changes too and links you shared with the old username stop working.

Payments

Photo estimates are metered: each account gets a monthly allowance of photo scans, reset on the 1st. Texting meals in words and the web app are free and unmetered. When paid plans are enabled, photo scans and a shareable public profile require a subscription. Prices are shown before you subscribe and payments are final and non-refundable. You can cancel anytime to stop future charges. You may also pay with USDC on Solana for a fixed-length pass — that is a one-time payment with no auto-renew, and it too is final and non-refundable.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is," without warranties, and our liability is limited to the maximum extent the law allows.
